UP CIDS Welcomes its New Executive Director

Dr. Teresa S. Encarnacion Tadem is the new Executive Director of the University of the Philippines Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS).  She was appointed last August 01, 2017.
Dr. Tadem is Professor and former Chair of the Department of Political Science in the University of the Philippines Diliman (2000-2003).  She also served as  Director of the Third World Studies Center (TWSC) and editor of Kasarinlan: A Philippine Journal of Third World Studies (2004-2010).  From 2011-2013, she was President of the Philippine Political Science Association (PPSA) and Vice-President of the Philippine Social Sciences Council (PSSC).  Dr. Tadem was also a Visiting Research Scholar at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies (CSEAS), Kyoto University, Japan in 2010 as well as a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School for International Cooperation Studies (GSICS), Kobe University, Japan from 2010-2011.  She was one of the recipients of the Natatanging Guro sa Gawad Chanselor Award 2009, University of the Philippines, Diliman, sixteen University of the Philippines System International Publication Awards (IPA) and nine University of the Philippines, Diliman Professorial Centennial Awards.
Dr. Tadem finished her bachelor’s degree in B.S. Foreign Service (Magna Cum Laude) and M.A. Political Science at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She obtained her Ph.D. in Politics and Public Administration at the University of Hong Kong in 1997.
Previously in UP CIDS, she served as Deputy Director for Research Monitoring and Evaluation from October 1997 to March 2000 and as Director for the Social Development Agenda Program from January 1999 – March 2000.
