[NEW PUBLICATION] Special Economic Zone and Local and Indigenous Communities: Evaluating the Clark Special Economic Zone

With the recent violence inflicted on certain indigenous communities, it is now high time to look into the complexities, context, and subsequent effects of certain economic laws that intersect with the rights of indigenous peoples. In this discussion paper, authored by Dr. Eduardo Tadem and published by the University of the Philippines Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS), Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are placed into focus. With the Clark SEZs in the Pampanga-Tarlac provinces as the focal point, this discussion paper brings to light the issues that communities continue to face due to skewed agreements and flawed economic models.
