Background of the Center
The University of the Philippines Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS) is the university system’s unit for interdisciplinary and collaborative research on areas of national concern, such as science and technology policies, educational policies, development efforts, political dynamics, and regional and international relations.
Since the 1990s, UP CIDS has been at the forefront of understanding the dynamics of peacebuilding, particularly in Mindanao. Since 2014, the Center has organized research programs, round-table discussions, and forums on ASEAN integration, national marine policy, migration, environmental governance, sustainable energy, and China studies.
Library History and Purpose
The UP CIDS Library traces its roots to the former Philippine Executive Academy (PEA) library, which served as the foundation for the current collection. As a specialized research library, its primary purpose is to support the Center’s mandate to make its research outputs and recommendations accessible to the public and the academic community.
