Southeast Asian Peoples’ Alternative Regionalism: Convergence Space on Alternative Regionalism | A Conference

Everyone is invited to an online and face-to-face conference, “Southeast Asian Peoples’ Alternative Regionalism, ASEAN Civil Society Conference/ASEAN Peoples’ Forum 2022 Convergence Space on Alternative Regionalism” on November 3 and 4, 2022.

Interested participants may sign up to attend via Zoom. For face-to-face participants, the program will be held at KC Market, Street 105k, Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The conference is free and open to the public.

About the Conference 

The Southeast Asian Peoples’ Alternative Regionalism is a conference that aims to explore the concept of alternative regionalism and discuss strategic actions that can strengthen people-to-people cooperation and cross-border solidarity.

This year, the Southeast Asian Peoples’ Alternative Regionalism features four workshops that cover alternative practices and frameworks of Southeast Asian practitioners, people-to-people cooperation among grassroots organizations and marginalized communities, and solidarity across Southeast Asian borders. Each workshop includes a panel discussion moderated by Southeast Asian practitioners.

Workshop 1: Understanding People-to-People Regionalism from Below

Program on Alternative Development and UP CIDS

The Program on Alternative Development (AltDev) is one of 12 research programs under the University of the Philippines’ Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS). AltDev aims to consider paradigms and frameworks that are marginalized and excluded from mainstream discourse in order to offer alternatives to the existing system. It recently published a discussion paper, “Promoting Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Among Vulnerable Groups in the Philippines,” which can be downloaded here.
