13th Korea–ASEAN Community of Policy Exchange (KACPE) International Public Policy Symposium to be Held in Manila
The University of the Philippines Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS), in partnership with the UP Korea Research Center (UP KRC) and the Korea Research Initiatives at the University of New South Wales (KRI@UNSW), will host the 13th Korea–ASEAN Community of Policy Exchange (KACPE) International Public Policy Symposium on 18 September 2026 at the Conrad Manila, Pasay City.
This year’s symposium marks the Philippines’ hosting of KACPE, following previous editions held in ASEAN capitals including Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Jakarta, Indonesia. UP CIDS was invited by KRI@UNSW to serve as the local host institution for this year’s symposium, continuing KACPE’s tradition of fostering regional policy dialogue and knowledge exchange across ASEAN.
KRI@UNSW is a university-based research network that collaborates with partner institutions across Southeast Asia on comparative public policy research and regional policy dialogue. KACPE serves as a Track 1.5 platform that brings together senior policymakers, researchers, and academics from Korea and ASEAN to facilitate discussions and exchanges on key regional issues, including governance, economic and industrial development, socio-cultural affairs, and regional security.
The symposium aims to strengthen state capacity for policy development and implementation in Southeast Asian transition economies, including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar; facilitate the sharing of development experiences and policy practices between Southeast Asian countries and Korea; and institutionalize the Korea–ASEAN Community of Policy Exchange through sustained multi-sectoral networks among government agencies, academic institutions, and research organizations.
Through the symposium, UP CIDS and its partners seek to provide a platform for meaningful conversations on shared challenges, emerging opportunities, and collaborative approaches toward advancing Korea–ASEAN relations and regional development. The event will bring together distinguished policymakers, scholars, researchers, and practitioners from Korea and ASEAN to exchange insights and perspectives on public policy and regional cooperation.
The 13th KACPE International Public Policy Symposium will be held on 18 September 2026 at the Conrad Manila, Seaside Boulevard corner Coral Way, Mall of Asia (MOA) Complex, Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines.
