Contesting the Philippines: A Forum and Book Launch
The UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS) is organizing a forum and book launch, “Contesting the Philippines,” on 7 August 2024, 9 am – 12 noon, UP CIDS, Lower Ground Floor, Ang Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman, QC. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is first-come, first-served. Participants are encouraged to pre-register.

As the Marcos Jr. administration enters its third year, the six years of the Duterte presidency merits a much closer double-take. The book, Contesting the Philippines, maps a period of “contesting the Philippines” during the Duterte administration (2016–22), a period of an intense, normative and practical struggle to shape of the Philippines’ most critical institutions, emerging actors the spectrum of Filipino politics.
