Job Opportunity @ UP CIDS: Junior Research Associate

The UP Center for Integrative and Development Studies (UP CIDS) – Escaping the Middle-Income Trap: Chains for Change (EMIT: C4C) Program is looking for one (1) Junior Research Associate under Contract of Service (CoS), with a monthly rate of Php 37,584.14. Contract runs from May 2024 to 31 October 2024, and is renewable subject to performance and/or necessity.  Application deadline is 25 March 2024.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing the framework, methodology, and data gathering instruments of upcoming action research projects of EMIT:C4C Program
  • Gather, analyze, and validate data relevant to a given action research project;
  • Write field notes, minutes of discussions, and other reports relevant to a given action research project
  • Conduct review of literature and state of practice on assigned topics/cases;
  • Write preliminary findings on action research projects
  • Present findings of the action research projects to different stakeholders;
  • Develop benchmarks or templates on assigned topics
  • Develop policy briefs and conference proceedings
  • Organize events related to EMIT C4C efforts
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time

The Junior Research Associate is expected to start work sometime in May 2024 at the earliest (subject to approval by UP Administration). Please inquire with the Program re: reporting/schedule/renewal/contract processing.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or related fields
  • At least 1-2 years of work experience, preferably with a background in research and/or public policy wor
  • Experience in working with government and international partners is preferred but not required
  • Experience in managing projects
  • Experience in research and technical writing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as management and organizational skills
  • Willing to do fieldwork (gather data, meet stakeholders, present findings) in rural areas including the BARMM
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision but also able to effectively work with a team as needed
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks efficiently
