Mamasapano question and its implications and challenges to peace in the Bangsamoro
This is the presentation delivered by Prof. Miriam Coronel-Ferrer during the talk on the “Mamasapano question and its implications and challenges to peace in the Bangsamoro.” The Powerpoint presentation tackles the mechanisms agreed upon to avoid PH security forces-MILF clashes during law enforcement operations. It also enumerates instances of cooperation by MILF, AFP, and PNP in neutralizing criminals and extremist rebels.
Prof. Miriam Coronel-Ferrer is the Chairperson of the GPH Panel for Peace Negotiations with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. Prior to her current stint in the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Prof. Ferrer has been teaching various courses at the Department of Political Science, University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman. Also at UP-Diliman, Prof. Ferrer had served at the helm of the Third World Studies Center. In addition, she had also been with CIDS as a Research Fellow on peace, conflict resolution and human rights. As Research Fellow for those topics, Prof. Ferrer had edited and written books on Philippine peace process issues.
